SHOW SOME LOVE FOR YOURSELF ON VALENTINE'S DAY

Valentine’s Day is coming up soon! February is considered as the month of love. It is the season of love, roses, chocolates, romantic dates, and heartfelt greeting cards.

Valentine’s Day is about celebrating the ones you love, whether it’s your partner, your best friend, your parents, your siblings. But why not we think about showing a little love and care our self. Even if we are on a holiday, our busy schedules make it difficult for us to set aside time for self care. I've learned over time that it’s just as important to make time for and treat myself too as we treat and take care of others. It would be amazing if we loved ourselves as much as we love other people around us.

Self- love doesn't mean just thinking about you. Not listening to others at all is not self- love. Make an arbitrary choice is not self- love. Self- love is an appreciation of one’s own worth or virtue. Self-love or self-care means taking care of your own needs and not sacrificing your well being to please others. Self-love means not settling for less than you deserve. Self love means accepting yourself as you are in this very moment for everything that you are. However, try to being better day by day and be your best version also includes in self-love.

Valentine’s Day is the perfect day to show yourself some extra love! It’s time for you to show yourself some love and do everything you need to feel loved on this romantic day. Here are some easy ways you can practice self-love on Valentine’s Day and beyond!

Do something that makes you feel creative and happy

Achieving happiness is not an easy act to do but it is something we all strive for. We all know that cultivating our creativity is good for problem solving, motivation and for personal growth. When you express your creativity, you experience greater well-being and happiness. So to make you feel happy do something that gives you the sense of being creative and boost your confidence too. If you like painting, reading, writing or knitting, whatever you like just do it. It’s a small gesture to give you simple joy. It’s a small step towards self-love or self-care. Even small acts of creativity in everyday life increase our overall sense of well being.

Wear your favorite outfit and take pictures

If you take the time to make yourself feel good to you there will be a massive change in your mood and even what you get done throughout the day.  Wear your favorite dress. Get ready well and take pictures of you to please yourself and not others. Maybe you won’t see anyone except your kids all day long. Who cares? Do it for yourself because you worth the effort, it will make you feel great. Dress well and start sparking some joy in this world!

Decorate your home

For most people, including me, their home is the most important place where their lives revolve around. We want our homes comfortable as well as beautiful. Decorating our house is an activity that conveys a great sense of significance for the inhabitants as well as for any other individual who may visit. Decorate your home by your own or switch up home decor is a way for you to create your own space where everything feels your own and you get positive vibes. A beautiful and elegant space is something we all look forward to as it is our happy place and it also reflects our personality and lifestyle.

Take time away from social media

Logging off of social media for a day or at least for a night is one of the best forms of self-care or self-love indeed. Take the night off of social media to just have a fun night with yourself! No need to scroll and see what others are doing and compare yourself, just block everything out and enjoy a night with the most important person in your life, yourself.

Turn on your favorite playlist and move your body

Valentine’s Day, without dancing is bizarre. Kick start your day with your favorite hits. Yes, turn up the volume and level up and dance like nobody is watching to your favorite party songs.  It helps reduce stress, awaken your strength and increase your pleasure.

Prepare your favorite meal

If you like to cook, try out a new recipe or an old tried and tested one to make yourself a fancy dinner to enjoy! If you don’t like to cook or you don’t feel to cook on that day, order takeout from your favorite restaurant. Either way you can enjoy a nice meal to celebrate your day of self-love!

Have a spree

Treat yourself to that thing you want. Have you been eyeing on a pair of earrings, or a dress or trendy make up kit but have not bought it yet? Get yourself a Valentine’s Day present! Who said we couldn’t treat ourselves? Even If you want some flowers, get them for yourself! You don’t need a significant
other to buy you flowers.

Watch your favorite show or movie

What could be better than this to grab a drink you love and turn on your favorite show or movie, especially if you enjoy it?  Do not put too much pressure on yourself and allow you to just go with the flow and do what feels right in the moment. Put on that incredibly hilarious comedy or that egregiously bad horror movie, sit down with a bucket of popcorn and enjoy!

Make a list of affirmations

Unfortunately, we don’t always speak kindly enough to ourselves. It’s crucial to talk to yourself as though you were speaking to a close friend or loved one. A great way to practice self-love is positive affirmations.  Write down a list of affirmations to repeat to yourself. It can help you to get into a good mindset and express love and positivity to yourself which is perfect for Valentine’s Day. Love yourself too because you can't pour from an empty cup. So try to focus on talking to yourself with positive affirmation.

Delight yourself

How you pamper yourself may be different from another but what is certain is that pampering is a form of self-care that can make a positive impact on us. Use this day as an excuse to give your face all the tender love and care it deserves. Give some nourishment to your skin and hair, paint your nails, do a face mask, arrange a spa at home. Do anything you want to create a little self-care party for yourself!
